Monthly website plans make a new site affordable, because you are not paying a large bill up front. The fair question is: do you ever own it? With some providers you never do. If you stop paying, the website disappears. Here is how it works with us, and what to check with anyone you are considering.
How our plans work
Our plans cost £99, £199 or £399 a month. They run on a rolling 12-month agreement, which spreads the cost of the design and build. Every plan includes fast hosting, daily backups and an SSL security certificate, so there is nothing extra to pay for the technical side.
After 12 months, the design is yours
At the end of the first 12 months, you own the website design outright. You then have two choices:
- Move it. Take your website to another host or developer.
- Stay with us on a lower, hosting-only fee, and we keep it running, backed up and secure.
Either way, the work you paid for is not lost.
Four questions to ask any web designer
- Who owns the design and the files? And from when?
- Who owns the domain name? Your domain should be registered to you or your business.
- Who owns the words and photos? Content you supply should stay yours.
- Can I leave, and how? Ask what you would receive, and whether any fees apply.
Clear answers to these four questions tell you a lot about a provider.
